Gifts wrapped with nautical maps that my husband made at work, hemp twine bows, watercolor paper for cards bordered with brown paper.

I wanted to make the name cards creative as well and a possible keep sake for the recipient so I drew a unique design on each.

The following two are name cards for my nephews who are really into wrestling. While looking for images on the internet, I found out alot about the history of wrestling as well as the different styles in different countries. This is Mexico's version Lucha Libra (Free Wrestling).

Here is Canada's version called Catch wrestling.
Overall I tried to make each gift's wrapping an experience for the receiver. For example, if the person opening up the gift slows down to unravel the gift by observing the exterior this extends the experience of the gift. Instead of quickly tearing through 5 gifts the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that went into this gift will hopefully engage the recipient more and make this 1 gift a lasting experience. Also by reusing materials and keeping most of the gifts handmade (see posts below) I avoided what I dislike about XMAS, the rude crowds, the overpriced merchandise, and the emptiness I often feel while treading through a mall. Giving these gifts its possible that I will receive more than they will because making them was a great pleasure.
